Visual identification system for the Academy of Music in Cracow. The generative logo is to refer to the characteristics of sound and music: changeability, dynamics and transience. Of all the types of art, music is the fastest and most frequently changing its form. Depending on the performer, a given piece becomes an interpretation and changes its form. When designing the identification, I tried to create a sign that is abstract on the one hand and associated with music on the other. Looking at the sign we can see fragments of instruments, a piece of a score or notes on a stave.
The logo is supposed to refer to the characteristics of sound and music: changeability, dynamics and transience. Music is from all kinds of arts the fastest and the most frequently changing its form. Depending on the performer, a given piece becomes an iteration and changes its form. Visually, one can notice the similarity to traditional musical notation, which immediately associates the recipient with the theme of music.
The basic colours for all the materials as well as for the logo itself are black and white. They are chosen for being the most practical and useful, as well as alluding to the contrast, which is a significant element in music. The grey scale and the shades in which the logo can be presented are also presented here.
The whole Visual Identity is also made up of printed materials in the form of: Business cards, Letterhead, Envelopes, Note and document folders, unique note paper for students and professors, CD covers and packaging (An important process within the promotion of the Academy of Music in Krakow is the recording and distribution of CDs of its students and graduates. The designed CD is supposed to consolidate the image of the Academy among potential listeners) and posters promoting events connected with the Academy.
The work was created as part of a course in the Visual Communication Studio.
The project was selected in the International Brand Design Award "Hiiibrand Awards 2018" China in the Student level and Identity category.
